September: Fall Car Care Month

The change in season is right around the corner, as is the need to do some Fall Car Care. Your pros at Scott Sherman are on your team to help keep your ride stress free and on the road when you want to depend on it. The Car Care Council has developed a Service Interval Schedule to help you keep track of what you need to take care of and the frequency. Carecare.org has developed some helpful tips for Fall Car Care.  A general rule of thumb is that every 3 months or 3,000 miles, the following should be checked and/or changed:

  • Automatic Transmission Fluid
  • Battery and Cables
  • Belts
  • Dashboard Indicator Light On
  • Engine Air Filter
  • Engine Oil
  • Exhaust
  • Hoses
  • Lights
  • Power Steering Fluid
  • Tire Inflation and Condition
  • Windshield Washer Fluid

In addition to the above regular quarterly maintenance schedule, we recommend that you do a detailed clean of your car’s interior and exterior.  The warm summer months with heat, sand, and vacation grime can really take its toll on the interior, so now is the time to detail it and get it ready for fall.

Pay special attention to those stains and spills on the seats and carpeting that occurred during your summer trips.  Taking care of them now will help them not to “set” over the winter months.

Giving your vehicle an in-depth exterior detailing will not only clean off that summer dust, grime, and road grease, but give your car the protection in needs going into the fall and winter months. Good quality exterior protection products will go a long way in protecting your car for the coming harsh weather, road salts, and temperature extreme that can dull and even ruin your paint.

Faithfully keeping up with regular quarterly maintenance will let your vehicle know just how much it is loved and it will love you back many times over when it is safe and reliable when you and your family can depend on it. When you know your ride is maintained, prepped, and ready for the upcoming months, well, that is a nice place to be.
